How it works

From race card to clear answer.

StableBet works in four steps. It collects race data and labels how fresh it is, connects everything in a knowledge graph, turns the evidence into ranges with plain-language explanations, and lets you test your thinking with paper bets that keep a full audit trail.

01Collect

Race data comes in, labelled.

StableBet captures public race cards, entries, scratches, results and odds. Every capture keeps its source, its time and a fingerprint of the original file, so any number can be traced back.

  • Live means it is still updating.
  • Snapshot means it was captured at a stated time.
  • Stale means it is old enough that you should not rely on it.

Each state has its own icon and wording, so colour is never the only signal.

02Connect

Everything is linked in a knowledge graph.

A knowledge graph stores things and the relationships between them. In StableBet, horses connect to trainers, jockeys, sires, dams, past races and track conditions. Each link keeps the race it came from and when it was true.

  • Spot form lines: which horses in today's race have met before.
  • See bloodline patterns, such as a sire whose runners handle soft turf.
  • Find stablemates and shared jockeys in the same field.

03Explain

Estimates come as ranges, with reasons.

StableBet's model gives each runner a chance of winning as a range, such as 18 to 29 percent, plus a confidence level. The AI assistant then explains that range in plain English and lists the evidence, each piece with its source.

  • Explain it simply: one short answer anyone can read.
  • Show the evidence: form, people, conditions and market, each sourced.
  • What would change it: how the range moves if the going or the field changes.

The AI retrieves facts and explains them. Tested numerical code does the maths. The AI never invents a statistic.

#2 Quiet Ledger · 18%–29%High confidence

Quiet Ledger wins a race like this roughly 1 time in 4. The betting market rates it a little higher than we do. There is a reasonable amount of evidence behind this.

04Practise

Test your ideas with paper bets.

A paper bet is a pretend bet that StableBet records as if it were real, without any money. Each one freezes the price, the model's view, the data freshness and your reason at the moment you placed it. Later, you can see what worked and what did not.

  • A separate paper balance per bet type, such as Win and Place.
  • Every bet links back to the evidence and the model version used.
  • Export your full ledger to a spreadsheet at any time.

    FAQ

    How StableBet works, answered.

    How does StableBet use AI?

StableBet uses AI in two places. A statistical model estimates each runner's chance of winning as a range. An AI assistant then retrieves the relevant facts and explains that range in plain language, with a source for each claim. Calculations are done by tested code, not by the language model, so the assistant cannot make up a number.

What is a knowledge graph in horse racing?

A knowledge graph is a map of things and how they are connected. For horse racing, it links each horse to its trainer, jockey, sire, dam, past races and track conditions. That makes it easy to see form lines between horses, bloodline patterns and stablemates in the same race.

Why does StableBet show a range instead of one number?

Because a single number hides how sure the model is. A horse with eleven starts and a horse with two starts might both be rated at 14 percent, but the second estimate is far less certain. A range, such as 7 to 25 percent, makes that uncertainty visible.

What does live, snapshot and stale mean?

Live data is still updating. Snapshot data was captured at a stated time and has not changed since. Stale data is old enough that it may no longer be accurate, for example odds captured before a scratch. StableBet labels every block of data with one of these states and its timestamp.

    What is paper betting?

Paper betting means recording bets you would have made without risking money. StableBet records each paper bet with the price, the model's view and the data freshness at that moment, then settles it against the real result. Read our guide to paper betting.

Can StableBet place real bets for me?

No. StableBet does not connect to any sportsbook or betting account and does not handle money.

Does StableBet work on my phone?

The first version is a desktop workspace for Windows that runs on your own computer. This website works on phones, and mobile support for the workspace is planned after testing.

Where does the racing data come from?

Testing uses publicly available race cards, entries and results, starting with Woodbine in Toronto. Each capture records its source and time. See Transparency for details.
